26TH JANUARY REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION- ‘ABIDE BY YOUR DUTIES’.
Today, on the auspicious occasion of the 63rd Republic Day of our motherland India, the D.A.V. Public School, East of Loni Road, came alive with a celebration at 10:45 am with all the students gathering in the galleries to witness the exciting programme with patriotic enthusiasm & zeal, holding the tiny tricoloured flags in their hands, which were similarly banded, setting in the atmosphere of the occasion.
The programme started with a brief introduction to the historical background related to this date, the 26th January 1950, when the Indian Constitution first came into effect, as announced by Sonali Tomar of XI class, who was at the anchoring. She also reminded us that this date was chosen as it was the anniversary of Poorna Swaraj Day, which was held on 26th January, 1930. After this informative beginning, our young soldiers presented a melodious song celebrating the endless gifts to us from our motherland. They called upon us to devote our heart & soul to the service of our country by performing our duties towards it,that in turn would ensure our fundamental rights. Then, Mayank of VIII A came up with an inspiring speech, turning our attention to the problems that face us all & which we unitedly need to solve. He also spoke of the progress we have collectively achieved in all these years of our steadfast & loyal citizenship.
This was followed by another group song, ‘Ye Desh hai veer jawanon ka’ sung with a fervour in their voice that took our spirits back to the days of Independence struggle for our country.
As the song came to an end, the tiny tots of our school representing various eminent leaders of our nation like- Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Rani Laxmi Bai of Jhansi, Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azaad. They spoke a few lines which were full of confidence & strength of their genuine feelings, which was evident in the emotion & excitement in their voice.
At the very end, Gaurav of VIII B presented a touching solo “Maa Tujhe Salaam”. Sonali, then talked of the role of a teacher in nation building, with which she called upon madam principal to enlighten us with her guiding words. Mrs Sameeksha Sharma, our principal told us to perform our duties as both teachers & students with a feeling of dedication towards the progress of our school as well as the nation. The programme came to an end with the flag hoisting & the national anthem.
