Let us live a healthy life
A Report on ‘Health Day Celebration’

On 8th April, 2013, the students of pre – primary celebrated ‘World Health Day’ in the school.
In the morning the classroom food mart was set up by the teachers of the pre primary in the class. The food items (healthy & unhealthy) were displayed n the table e.g. junk food & vegetables. The teacher gave artificial/fake currency to them, & told them to come & shop for their favorable food items. The students came & gave money to the teacher, who was acting as a shopkeeper, & purchased their favorite food items. Some bought junk food & some bought green leafy vegetables.
Later, after the purchasing of food items was done, she explained to them about healthy living with the help of PPT (PowerPoint presentation). She told them about the importance of healthy living in our life & how we can keep ourself healthy by adapting healthy habits like eating healthy food, exercising & feeling good. All these points were explained in detail to the students by the class teacher. After the explanation she asked the students to judge their purchase now & tell whether they have purchased healthy or unhealthy food. The one who purchased healthy food got a green star as an appreciation by the class teacher.
The activity made our tiny tots conscious of their health & taught them the ways to a healthy living through healthy food habits, exercising regularly & keeping happy always. It made them realize through direct application that keeping healthy is a matter of one’s own choice to a great extent, as far as our choice of what we want to eat & how we want to live is concerned. We are sure our students will benefit from this practical application, for a lifetime, in keeping fit & healthy right from their childhood.
