LIBRARY WEEK

17.10.12 to 20.10.12

D.A.V Public School, East of Loni Road, Delhi, in order to promote the use of library, to inculcate reading habit, to develop awareness and interest in related activities like; book covers, illustrations etc among students, successfully celebrated library week from 17.10.12 to 20.10.12.
Under the library week, following activities were conducted for students:
  • ·         Colouring for class I: A sketch of Noddy from the famous book series ‘Noddy’ written by famous Enid Blyton was given to the students to colour.
  • ·         Reading time for class II: Students were given different story books to read and their reading skill (pronunciation, fluency, expression, punctuation) was judged.
  • ·         Hindi story telling competition for class III
  • ·         English story telling competition for class IV
  • ·         Book mark making for classes V & VI: Wherein students made beautiful book marks and best entries were selected.
  • ·         Quotation writing for classes VII & VIII: Under this students wrote meaningful and thought provoking quotes in a creative manner. Best entries were selected on the basis of moral, theme, presentation, neatness, creativity etc.
  • ·         Book cover design for classes IX to XII: Wherein students got a chance to showcase their inherent talent and creativity by making theme based, beautiful and exquisite book covers. Best entries were selected on the basis of theme, presentation, neatness, creativity etc.
  • ·         Book exhibition: A book exhibition was also organised for students of classes VI to XII to promote the reading habit among students.


The award for Best Reader (throughout the year) from classes V to XII and best entries of the activities and events were given away. The parents got themselves involved in the exhibition and appreciated the move of the school in this purpose.
